While in university, Akua founded a program that allowed Philadelphia area students an opportunity to showcase their talents, which ranged from spoken word to jazz musical composition, to the broader University of Pennsylvania community. Most recently, she worked with the New York Chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters as a mentor.
